This session’s class is designed to give competitive teams an opportunity to polish up their rally skills so that they will shine in the upcoming fall’s rally trials. Join us for fun in the rally ring so when the judge says, “Are you ready?” you can happily answer, “Ready!” and move forward with confidence. We will work on Novice through Master courses.
Dogs need to understand where heel position is and be able to heel there on a loose lead. Dogs need to have a reliable sit, down, stay, and come and have good basic obedience skills already in place. This class will focus on teaching the teams how to negotiate the signs at a brisk pace with ease and good form.
Handlers must bring a crate for their dogs so they can walk the course and work on their footwork without the dog. Also, handlers are to bring an AKC rule book or rally phone app or flip chart of signs to each class. Handlers should be familiar with the signs for their level of work. Dogs may not work on a harness or “halti” type collar/lead for class work. Treats and/or toys may be used as a reward for a job well done.
